Paleta point of sale with product search and current-sale panel
Paleta point of sale on a phone

Screenshots come from the demo, with sample data. The demo runs on a free server, so the first load can take up to a minute.

01Context

Pinturería Cito runs two stores on a closed ERP for everything: sales, stock, pricing and invoicing. Paleta was born to handle the daily operation of both stores and, at the same time, as software any paint store can use.

02The problem

Checking whether a product is in the other store, selling quickly at the counter and updating hundreds of prices when a supplier list arrives were slow, error-prone tasks.

03The solution

A web system that installs like an app: a point of sale built for keyboard and barcode scanners, stock shared across branches, bulk price updates with preview and rollback, and per-user permissions with an activity log. Fiscal invoicing stays in the current system until an alternative is validated.

What's included

Counter

  • Point of sale with barcode scanner support and keyboard shortcuts
  • Offline sales that sync when the connection returns
  • Quotes, returns and voided sales
  • Daily cash register: opening, movements and closing

Inventory

  • Per-branch stock and transfers between stores
  • Bulk price updates by brand, line, category or supplier, with preview, history and rollback
  • Product import from Excel or CSV with validation

Management

  • Customers with running accounts and credit limits
  • Reports on sales, gross profit, slow movers and inventory value, exportable to CSV
  • Users with editable roles and permissions, plus an activity log

Design and technical decisions

  • Installable web app (PWA) instead of desktop software: it runs on the counter PC and on phones, with nothing to install on each machine.
  • The offline sales queue uses a unique ID per operation so a sale is never recorded twice.
  • It coexists with the current fiscal system instead of replacing it all at once, which means less risk for the business.
  • 76 automated tests against a real PostgreSQL database.

Not included (yet)

  • Electronic invoicing (ARCA, Argentina's tax agency): for now the sale stores a reference to the invoice issued in the current system.
  • Purchase orders to suppliers.
